had it on overheads and kick, and it was excellent.
my only complaint about the sytek is that it has no pad.
i often use an sdc on snare (rhode nt3, try it) and without a good pad there is no way to get that thing turned down enough. i have a 10db line pad, but the guy i was recording was one of the louder drummers i've ever dealt with and it wasn't quite enough.
where i have used it on snare in the past it really made me happy. (much with the snap)
i think i like it better then my rnp (which also has no pad, but turned all the way down the sytek, if i understand correctly, still has +12db of gain)
but the di's in the rnp do kick ass.
the sytek has 72db of gain, with no hiss, where the rnp has 66db, and it gets a little noisy at the top of it's gain range.
the +6db indents (is that the correct tearm?) of the rnp can annoy a little, cause i'm kinda anal like that.
so far i would probably pick the sytek out of the 2, but would miss the di in the rnp.
i haven't tried the sytek on guitars yet, but have used it a little on vox, and it was very nice.
it's worth while to note that my sytek has the bur brown's in all 4 channels
