I was browsing through the mercenary audio site earlier today and noticed that there are 3 different versions of the RNP.

120V
220V
240V

if i remember correctly. This is probably a dumb question but what is the difference between the 3 other than the voltage. What advantages or disadvantages are there between the 3?

I’m sure there is no real difference. The various versions are more than likely to support various line voltages for the over seas market.

Nonetheless, the advantage of using higher line voltages to power electrical equipment is they draw less current (Ohms law I=E/R). Less current makes electrical equipment run cooler and, more efficient, which also equates to cheaper to power (P=EI), meaning lower electric bills. However, the current draw of these devises is more than likely negligible

The differences are as follows:
120 will work in a normal US household using normal receptacles
The 220 wont work unless you are on 220v (Europe for instance)
And 240 will work if you have a receptacle for it - say plug it into the dryers receptacle. 240 will give you theoretically less heat cause you are cutting the current in half.

Didn't I just say that. :D

From the FMR website:
I hate wall-warts, why does the RNC have a wall-wart?
First, let me assure you that, as users, we have no love of wall-warts either! There are, however, some reasons for using them with the RNC: 1) Reduce hum/noise interference between the RNC's audio circuits and an internal power supply (it's a very small package), 2) Improve the universality of the RNC for an international market (the only thing that's different between the RNC U.S. and RNC Australian is the wall-wart; no internal changes are necessary),

You and I hit reply close to the same time. So I didnt see your response. Now if I said that a day afterwards then you could properly question such things.

thanks guys

that was simple enough. I just wanted to make sure that i wasnt missing something.

i'm still very happywith my RNP, but is it me or hasn't there site changed in a year or so?.....doesnt seem to be updated with upcoming products?

"Upcoming products" are still very much in the conversational development stage. There ar a bunch of other things going on over there that don't concern anyone outside of the general sphere of FMR... hence no updates to the website have been deemed necessary.

care to divulge any secrets?

rumors have been flying around about a a really nice eq? any truth? whats up with the mercenary edition RNC?? maybe a mercenary edition RNP w/transformer input and output?
