I accidentally connected a DC transformer to my RNC and screwed it up. I sent it to FMR Audio expecting to pay dearly for my buffoonery, but thery fixed it for free and returned it.

Thank you Mark McQuilken!

FMR are an example of a great company with integrity. their products are of a very high standard and their service is second to none. Mark McQuilken is a brilliant designer.

I don't own any FMR equipment, but have heard great things, especially about the RNC. Customer service a GREAT fringe benefit of some companies that sell great products AND keep your mind at ease if something goes wrong. Been thinking about an RNC for awhile....maybe I should start taking a harder look at it :) :)

Mark and Beth are both great. One of them has answered the phone every time I called. I got the RNP this week and they endured several phone calls and patiently answered questions I had while I was trying to decide whether I wanted to get the RNP or buy a different mic first. (Mark actually was steering me towards a different mic first, which is an incredible thing to do when he makes his living selling his products!) They are very friendly and good at explaining fundamentals to newbies.

BTW, I love the RNP. I am getting very good results with an SM81 and my acoustic guitar, still experimenting with mic placement. The DI is good for bass. The biggest surprise is how awesome my SM57 sounds on vocals through the RNP. Just unbelievable, I think I can stop looking for vocal mics right here. I have previously tried (through budget preamps before I got the RNP) SM58, SM7b, KSM27, KSM32, Beta52, MD421, SP C1 and my Rode NT1a and I liked the SM57 best of all even through my Audio Buddy, except for the plosive issue. Now it's even better, whole different quality of sound; I don't think I can top SM57 with pop screen through the RNP for my voice. I'll have to find other things to spend my vocal mic $$ on now! :p

Do you think I'll notice a big leap in quality if i get the RNP from my motu pre's?

Haven't heard your MOTU pre's, but the biggest jump in quality that I noticed with the RNP, in comparison with the Mackie 1202 VLZ that I tracked with before, was a "tighter" and "more focused" sound. Also, when I stacked tracks, there was less noise and phasiness as the mix built up.
