I've got 2 car radios with no line-in and cassette adaptors are thrown out (that sounds horrible anyway).
How/where do I get a FM-signal conditioner to allow the transfer of sound from a notebook to the FM-antenna

I don't know if this is going to help, but Tandy, the Oz version of Radio Shack, have little FM transmitters that have an transmission distance of about 3-4 meters, that are generally marketed as a device to allow you to play CD's from a discman into a car radio.

I have no idea what the quality is like, cos I've never used one.

Damn!!! I was going to send you over to the Dragons Cave to see a thread, but decided against it. It was tempting though.

Gaffa,
that's excactly what I'm looking for!
Does Tandy/Radio-Shack have a catalogue on the web? I'm in Europe, do they send over here?

For the quality level I know that the signal allows approximately 98kbit/sec, equal if your source holds better quality, however this far good enough for in car usage :)

No idea about the mail order of Radio Shack - Tandy doesn't to the best of my knowledge. If you want somewhere more local, try Maplins in the UK. The only other place I've seen them is one of the duty free electronics stores at Frankfurt airport.

Very good idea, I'm regulary on Frankfurt airport once a month.
A friend of me is coming tomorrow from Amsterdam, where they have much more electronics stuff on the airport. I'll call him right now to check there too.
I'll check Maplins as well, no big deal, lots of british folks at my work who could pick it up.

I hadn't had any luck with Web-searches, what the correct querry for that would be and our local electronics dealers just stared at me with a big question mark in the eyes :D

Thank you very much, I'll let you know on this one when I've got it.

PS.: With the right keywords now, I#ve found what I'm looking for. It's from Australia :D http://www.internet-promotions.com/cew-electronic/index.html

Just to let you know:
Got the thingy from Adelaide. It's working quite well, though I've found digital receivers are quite tricky to be adjusted.
The antenna is sensible in catching disturbing signals with the PC-environment, need to play a bit around with grounding at the PC-side.
I've set up a little pic for better comparism of the size http://webwi.de/images/fmtrans.jpg

Have a nice day :)
