The vents in my living room for example, the breeze out of them is fairly gentle, and the temp is about 80 degrees, I can set something damp on the coffee table, and will be dried in about a day or so, with out getting warmer than the room temp. room temp is usually about 73 degrees in my house.

Armed with this knowledge:

Explain to everyone on this forum how placing a LDC next to a 100 watt light bulb is safer than what I shared in first paragraph above.

Well, to be honest I can't say it's any safer. I have a special home made (dust free) mic drying box I made out of a fish aquarium and a 25 watt light bulb that works great. I guess either way will work.
