I'm tryin to repair this dinosaur. I think its a pretty nice amp. I really don't know what I'm doing. But I'm trying to figure it out. Well, first off, one channel works. The other one, when I turn on the amp, after the safety thingy clicks off, the meter peaks and then fades down only on that side. On this particular amp, i believe the meter monitors total power, and not the line level input. No sound is produced when this level spike occurs. I was lookin around. And after running the amp for a while, I felt the two rows of cooling fins. Which are clearly dedicated to two different channels. One was warm. One was cold. Bingo, now I know which channel is dead. I got access to the chips which were being cooled, got model numbers and did a quick google search. Apparently they are the output transisters or something like that. The contact cement on one seemed a bit more disturbed than on the other chips. But not much. Could have been a manufacturing thing. But I have a hunch this is the one. What do you guys think?
