Yeah, I will try that. I guess I need a short attack for it to get those cymbals right away??? I'll experiment. Thanx alot.

Yeah try maybe between 4-10ms attack roughly, and a longish release time.

Thanx JPW. I was told earlier in the thread the vocals were too loud, so I'm not sure what to do. Maybe my voice just has trouble sitting in the mix no matter what the volume is. I'll have to put the tune down for a few days and see if any of these issues stand out to me.
Volume automation on the vocals. :) smiley not frown

I re-sang the vocals and re-mixed it as per alot of the advice in this thread.

I also added a "telephone" effect to the intro. I hope it works. I felt it needed something like that, but only time will tell if it's cool or not. :D

BURN IT DOWN

Is this the same vocal version as what's in the opening post of this thread?

I seem to want to hear the vocals just a bit louder and perhaps with just a bit more wetness as they're a bit boxy sounding to my ears.

I truly do like the tune though! It's real snappy and hip! Kind of reminds me of Max Webster kind of stuff...sort of like their tune called Waterline. Maybe that's what's messing with my impressions of the vocals? I'm waiting for the Kim Mitchell swagger in the vocal style and it's not there.

I hear real radio play potential in this track though...it's a good tune, man! Strong!

Cheers! :)

Great song, playing, mix! I get a weird cutout about every two seconds during the telephone part - not sure if that's my computer struggling with the mp3, or something else. Once the intro's over, so's the cutout. Intentional?

Love the old vinyl feel in the intro!!

Vocals could be a bit more center panned. It leans to the right as does everything, but the right panned rhythm guitar. It seems to be standing alone in the right monitor.

Maybe my ears are burned out, cause I haven't read anyone else hearing this...or maybe just my right one!!!!

Great singing. Great playing. Another great song!:)

Thanx alot Ghost. I love Max Webster, too. But it didn't even cross my mind. I'm still working on this, so I'll still play around with the vocal level.

Thanx for the comments, bro.

Thanx Chef.....The cutting out you're hearing is suppose to be a record scratch. I used IZOTOPE VINYL for the "LP" effect and one of their settings is the amount of "scratch". But I realise we don't really hear the scratch as much as we just hear it cutting it out.

Thanx for the listen.

Thanx alot, daisy. Actually, the vocals are panned center, so I don't know if that issue is on my end or yours. If anyone else notices this, please let me know in case there's something I need to check on my end.

I really appreciate your comments and thanx for listening. :)

They sound centered to me so I dunno

Song sounds great. I like the sound you've got going.

For some reason I'm always wanting to hear your songs with more squash though.. I'm sure most would disagree;)

Cool tune Rami .... excellent writing as always, and a smashing performance.
- the intro skips are distracting to me. It sounds like a mistake on the mp3 file. The telephone sound is cool though, might be a hair too low compared to the main part.
- the vocals seem a bit dry compared to a few of your other tracks.
- Vspace's comment is interesting. I would say you've reduced your compression on your mixes lately - am I right? Your mixes seem a bit more open and dynamic.
- although you have a new room, your mixes seem to be falling nicely into place....

Happy Thanksgiving!

:):D:):D

Thanx alot VSpace and Ido.

Yeah, I might have to eliminate the "skips". We don't hear the scratch, it just cuts out and gets annoying. Luckily, it's only for the first few seconds of the song, but I'll still get rid of it.

As for the compression/squashness, I always try to get my tunes to average about -12db to -13db. Funny thing is, I changed operating systems and couldn't install WAVELAB in my new computer, so I'm doing my so-called "mastering" in a free REAPER program, but still using the same plug-ines, etc....I wonder if I'm not reading the meters correctly or something....Personally, I think it's just the new room that might have a more open sound to it...Hoping that's what it is....:D

...removed the annoying scratches...everything else is the same.

Thanx for the help.
