First tune in new studio....

Cool tune. Overall sounds very well mixed. I can hear everything going on. My only complaint is as stated earlier the main vocals seem a little high and the right channel guitar work can come up a little. Not much stereo spread on drums, but they do sound great. I listened both with headphones and monitors and the tune came across great on both. How are you micing the drums anyway (how many and locations)?

I think Rami uses a minimalist setup for drum micing. Because he is good at tuning his drums and is a solid player, thats why the drums sound so good and solid. (I think) :) <---- meant to be a smile but HR is gammy at the moment.

I listen to your songs and I want to just pack up all my stuff and sell it. But then it makes me want to work a lot harder to get better. To bad I don't have the time or the space to do this as well as I would like. Thanks for the tunes.

Nice guitar tone at the start. I dislike the distorted guitar that comes in. Sounds like distortion I used to get recording direct.
What was your signal chain for the distorted guitar?

Nice overall mix. OHs seem at ok level. Wouldnt hurt to bring them down, but they are fine where they are. Id compress the OHs though as the cymbals sometimes come in too loud.

Nice one. Your mixes have more meat these days, which is always a good thing.

Thanx alot, Eck. My guitar chain is always the same. Strat-Yamaha DG STOMP-Peavey StudioPro (don't use the amp, just the speaker)-SM57-TASCAM 2488. I think the guitar you're talking about has a "fuzzy" sound to it could be because I turned down the tone on the guitat itself, trying to go for a certain sound. It might not have worked. But thanx for pointing it out, I might not have paid enough attention to it.

As for the cymbals, I also thought the cymbals might be a bit loud at times, which is why I asked about the OV's. My instincts tell me I should try a mix with them just a little lower.

Thanx alot for the advice, dude. :)

Thanx BushMaster....Like Eck told you, I use 4 mics on my drums. 2 overheads, kik, snare. I did narrow the spread on them a bit on this tune. It just seemed to fit them in better. Thanx for the listen, buddy.

Thanx alot for the compliment, but whatever you do, don't sell anything. We're all doing something we love. That should keep you going for life.:)

Thanx, New.

No problemo man.
Id still try out more sompression on the OHs to tame some of those cymbals even if you are still bingin the OHs down in the mix. Try a medium hard setting but keep the threshold up so it smooths out those louder cymbals.

Eck

Yeah, I will try that. I guess I need a short attack for it to get those cymbals right away??? I'll experiment. Thanx alot.

good song Rami :) i listen just on my computer speakers so i wont' comment on the mix. keep it up :)

Actually my first impression is that the bass is too up front, I find it kind of distracting. And the mix is a bit dry.. though I realize reverb was outlawed in the early 90s :D . Nice bv's, needs some kind of pad maybe, synth or organ to make it flow more. But that's just my style. Overall very nice song and mix!

Finally got it to download:D I like the mix on the music, very punchy, love the breaks, the lead vocals sometimes get a little lost in the mix though......otherwise, cool tune and looking forward to hearing some more:D

Thanx Shenker. Hmmm...I'll have to checkout the bass.

Thanx JPW. I was told earlier in the thread the vocals were too loud, so I'm not sure what to do. Maybe my voice just has trouble sitting in the mix no matter what the volume is. I'll have to put the tune down for a few days and see if any of these issues stand out to me.

Thanx for all the advice, everyone.

Only you really know what needs to be done......opinions are like...well...you know. Make the song sound the way you want it....we'll still listen and think its wonderful:D:D:D

I like it! And it's not really the style of music that
I would typically like.

On my system, the tele sounding chimey guitar
at the beginning seems to compete with the
vox. The guitar seems to win. Maybe duck
the guitar under the vocal a little bit.

Later when the vox is doubled and
harmonized, it's a lot thicker. Comes
through stronger.

Vox is clean and strong. I like that in ANY recording.

Thanx alot, Lumpy. Yeah, I didn't want to double the vox in the intro, but maybe I should tuck the guitar in a bit until the "band" comes in. I really appreciate this kind of advice, because you get so much into a song, you don't hear it any more.

Thanx for the help and the comments.
