Wow......you actually do more than post in that "Hey Moskus thread".
Great song,I pretty much agree with what everybody else said.

LATER!
ACKUS!

Listening to Jazz House in headphones.

It's nice and open sounding. Good balance between instruments.
Personally I don't think the bass sound goes well with the music, but that's only a matter of preference.

Not much to say.
Good work. Keep it up!

moskus great stuff.....how's the drum track done in the "what went wrong 2"??
great guitar sounds....especially the solo bit towards the end in the above mentioned piece..

Thanks for the comments! :)

The drums is the Sonic Implants "Blue Jay Drums"-soundfont, and played on a keyboard, with minor editing in the Piano Roll. No quantisation whatsoever...

I've been practicing like hell playing drums on a keyboard (playing normal drums is no problem), in the hope that it would eventually pay off! And now I'm getting somewhere... :)

In general, In the End was a good tune and the piano and string parts were very nice. As you noted, the vocal needs to be refined on pitch and maybe could use a little more expressiveness. You sounded a little bored. Second verse, 'you and me' should probably be you and I.

Thanks a bunch!:D

Yeah, maybe I sounded bored, but I really wasn't. It's just a one-take track, I'm gonna retrack it later... And "you and me" should be "you and I". I just wanted to finish recording... ;)

certainly great sounding font...(i liked the snare)

thanks

moskus,

I am glad to see more people coming from the cakewalk forum to post here!

this mix is very clean, and the drums sound pretty darn good, as well as the piano soundfonts. I don't know if I can hear any Floyd influence in this tune, but I really dig the guitar tone nontheless.

Thank you, A1A2! :)

Yeah, I'm trying to stay away from the "Pink Floyd Feeling", don't wanna end up as a copycat...;)

Songwriting - From a songwriting perspective, I thought the tune was OK. I enjoyed it, but found it a little predictable. But it was certainly in line with the power ballad genre.

Production - Good job (although I'd can the whistling). The production is right on target. You did great with the equipment you have. I think the strings sound fine. You get a bit busy with them in some parts and that's where they sound midi-ish ... and, yeah, the piano sounds midi-ish too.

Mix - I'm listening at work with headphones - so this review is biased as a result. I think the mix is good. No complaints (although I'm ignoring the distortion you warned about). Vocal sounds good and sits nicely.

Let it Be - Ha !! "Let It Be" is one of the few piano songs I can play as well.

I'll check out some of your other stuff tonight from home.

Enjoyed it.

Man, this sounds like absolute shit. And it's pretty boring, too.

Oh fuck...sorry; I was listening to one of my tunes.

Just stopping by to say I enjoyed it. You've got plenty of help from people smarter than me...(and after all, my stuff sounds like shit).

:D

Thanks for the input, guys!

Bpoco: As far as songwriting, it's just a "re-arrange" of the chords of Let it Be, so I know it's not going to be "an original. ;) And I know the MIDI needs work! :)

Chris: Damn it, man! You scared me! :D And you had me fooled to listen to some of your songs. If they suck, then we all suck around here... ;)

That was a mighty nice thing to say, man. ARE YOU DEAF??? ...lol. Thanks.

I know you're joking Moskus, but some people do ....some people really do. :)

Q: What did you think of my music?

A: Beh, too much notch filter in the 30Hz area...

Q: And about the songs?

A: Wha? Errrrr, compressors?

That kinda people....ugh!

You know, these tips can really help you if you don't have the equipment (or ears!) to find it out yourself... ;)
