Hello all,
This is my first time posting anything, just some songs I recorded on my 4track.If anyone would like to give a listen and tell me what they think,I would really appreciate it.Any tips for improving the sound would be great too.You can find them here:

I just wanted to say,I think this site is the best!
Thanks much,
Pete

Sounded pretty nice. There's lots of folks here who're looking for a 4-track to do simple multitrack stuff but don't have much dough. What did YOU use? My only complaints would be the tuning on that G7 tune and the distortion on "Blank". Did you record G7 out of tune or mess with it after the fact? I'd have backed off a tad on the levels of that Blank tune unless that gritty blasting sound was what you were after. It also needs more low end from the drums. Rainy Day was the only one that really sounded like a Portastudio. Nice tune though...

First three songs sound sooo good. then comes G7, and I can only agree with the Doc on this one... Then comes BK where you introduce the crap-sound from hell... No offence man, but the 3 first songs sound so good. I have no clue how, but you made 'em sound very good on a four-track... You have to find a way to get your canned drums sound good.. Then you gotta find a way to record distorted guitars.

Anyways.. I'm drunk as F**k, so never mind me... :-)

G7 had a nice feel to it, but like doc said, tuning......."Blank" didn't happen...just not the right distortion at all....

"Rainy Day"....nice tune, well played..."Jump Time" was cool...reminded me of early '70's movie sound tracks, and if an accordion had been in there, it could have been a foreign movie...seriously, I liked this one...that sound is unique....always like hearing some slide and "Sunset" was sweet......not bad recordings at all for a 4 track.....gibs

Thanks to everyone

Hi guys,
I wanted to thank you all for replying to my post, your input was great. The stuff I put on the web site were old recordings I had.I just went through my collection of Tascam tapes and mastered anything that was halfway decent. The G7 tune is from when I first started recording,I think the bass is midi and I tried to tune everthing else to it,either that or it's my 4track,it died right after mastering these songs.I think the belt went, sounds kinda seasick.I'm going to take it off the site and remaster BK to bring the levels down and the low end up.

Drstawl,Meshuggah,
I did my recording on 4track,with a small mixer, compressor, exicter, and reverb, then mastered to 2track minidisc with a slight chorus/delay,then to cubase where I trimmed everything and did automated fadeins and outs. The minidisc really adds a bright sound. Thanks for the comments and suggestions, any ideas for getting a better midi drum sound?

Gibs,
Jumptime is my favorite too.Sounds like a Mitch Miller singalong. It's all my telecaster, and the reverb is an Alesis nanoverb.I since traded up for a Lexicon, but I'll probably get another one just for that sound.
I'm like you,I love that slide sound,I just wish I could play a little better, well I guess that's my cue to go practice. Thanks for your input it's greatly appreciated.

Again thanks to everyone for your encouragement it means a lot.
Happy Holidays To All,
Pete
