OK!

Here's what I did with SmartDraw. That's actually what I plan to build. The reflections are probably not perfect. And the design is probably not perfect. And I'm probably not perfect :D.

Anyway, give me your opinions.

Peace,
Beathoven

Damn! Why won't it attach!!!

Smartdraw is the devils tool.

I found Visio pretty good for doing my designs.

Smartdraw is the devils tool.

Rochey - I could not disagree more :) Visio was OK before Microsoft bought them but the last time I tried it it crashed Windows2K every time I moved anything.

I find SmartDraw much easier to use, quick to learn and most importantly, it always works.

... just my 2 cents

Kevin.

What kinda stuff do you intend to record and mix in there?

If It's mainly vocal stuff, then it seems okay, maybe even an acoustic singer (if you know what i mean)

but you haven't given much space for a keyboard (basic necessity in any studio).

the shape of the control room looks good though, and you've dealt with most reflection pretty well.

good luck

One word: Rap

The computer monitor will be more against the wall and the synth (I'm dreaming about this Motif 6  ) will be on the desk just in front of the monitor....

I will put 'resonator slats' (I think that's what you call them) on the walls of the control room to absorb high frequencies.

Anyone could think of something that would not work or everything seems ok?

Thanks in advance,
Beathoven

RAP? You need a studio for that??? *kidding*

Sounds like a good idea. You may want to consider a few shelves from a practical point of view. You'll need a sampler or two as well, maybe some turntables too?

I wonder if you would benefit from a foldable table in the side wall or something. When you weren't using any extra stuff, you could then fold up the table and put it in the closet!

Also, don't forget the ceiling. Studio's are 3 dimentional spaces. If you have a flat ceiling, then the reflections are in parallel with your floor.

Maybe a gentle sloping ceiling (about 12 degree's) might help, but i'd rather some people commented on that before you go off and do it!

Good luck

Should there be that sloppy ceiling in my vocal room too?

(P.S.: Thanks Rochey I appreciate your help much)

(I'm surprised John did not already take part of our conversation... :D )

Yeah - I'm here :) looks good. Welcome to smartdraw :)

cheers
John

The rooms aren't built right now... It's just plan.

The room that will contain the rooms (;)) has a suspended ceiling.

Peace,
Beathoven
