I recently bought a MR8 I recorded a few songs on my MR8 (mostly guitar, a little drum). However, my wav files are sounding a bit hollow. When I play the songs in winamp, all that shows up on the equalizer are a couple bars on very left. Someone mentioned to me that this might be the compression. Does anyone know how to edit this before or after transfer to a PC? I couldn't find anything in the user manual.
Thanks!

It is my understanding that the only way that the "powerful, bright, and natural" mastering effects (compression) on the MR-8 show up on recorded material is when you mix everything to a stereo wav before transferring to pc. I guess this is what you did. Try not using the mastering effects buttons. You are probably just compressing the heck out of it with the "powerful" button which is cutting out all the highs.

Good advice: Forget the winamp, download the wavmanager (from fostex site), pay the $45 for n-track and then transfer your tracks one at a time from the MR-8 using wavmanager. Open them with n-track and mix them there. This will open up a whole other world for you.

Thanks for your help! I will definitly try that next time.
I was able to find a program that allowed me to balance the song a little after it was a wav file, but it still did not make it as clear as it sounded originally.
Thanks!
