Hi guys,
this looks like a real nice forum here. Glad that I found it :)

OK, I hope it´s not impolite, because my first posting is the posting of a Song. But I think that´s the easiest way, isn´t it... just to post a song, to get some feedback, and learn more for the next one.

I´ve posted this Song in a Forum or two and didn´t get soo many feedbacks on this. It looks like people think it´s OK, but OK is not good. So i was wondering - do you have any suggestions, what I could do better?

I know that many people don´t like Christmas Songs... so I apologize for this. But I like christmas Songs and I always wanted to do one. And I think it´s suitable to this time of the year, isn´t it :)

Thank you so much for the listen.

Hello, besides the hihat, the drums are very buried, you could took off the drums and the song remains the same.

Ahh, the BCC. Tell Ray, Dave from Sw101 says hi. :)

This seems a pretty ambitious project, getting collaborators from around the world.

A few things stand out as needing some improvements.

Zero already mentioned the drums. You can only really hear the tambourine or hihat.

The rest of the tracks are very one dimensional or flat. No spacing or panning, seems everything is panned dead center and on top of each other. You can open your sonic stage up a lot by moving some of the tracks off to the side. Try not to crowd it all together.

Chord progression seems the same throughout the entire song. I'm not sure if it changed between verses and choruses or not. The song could use more variety in chords AND melody. As it is now, it just seems to drone on.

I knew Ray when he and a few others started his BCC project, so I know where you're trying to go with this. A little more work and you can get this song there.

good luck and welcome to the site.

Oh btw: you'll get a lot more looks and comments on your tunes if you return the favor to others who have their tunes posted here also. Thanks!!!

Hi,

thank you :)

I know, lot of things on this song suck. The drums - yeah I know. I used a cheep DrumProducer that can only play simple beats and it´s not loud enough. I´ve bought myself a copy of the EZDrummer for future projects.

All the other instruments - except for the Acoustic and E-Guitar - are MIDI-files. I know, MIDI-Files don´t sound like real instruments :(...

For the Chords - huh? There are some chord changes.

I did go for a simple G-AMinor-D for the 1st verse
You are right, the "Bridge" (or pre Chorus) is close to it... with a A-Minor-D-G-EMinor... but then I have this little C Major/CMinor Change in it :)...The Chorus starts with C as well, but is followed by an A-Minor-B-Minor... so... only some slight changes...

I thought, I should not use more than 6 or 7 chords for this christmas Song... hey, "The First Noel" only has 4 and we should not talk about things like "We wish you a merry christmas"... :)

Sometimes I have real big changes in the Chords, than people say that it´s too weird for their ears... hmm...

Cute song, just right for the period....
Dave already mentioned some good points. With abit of tweeaking, this will sound better. Welcome to HR!

Joey :):):):)

By the way @chilli: Sorry, for this double posting :). I´ll say hello to Ray from you. I am sure he will be happy. I am on SW101 as well, do I know you? :D

I haven't been to sw101 in quite a while.

I use ezdrummer too and really like it a lot. It brought some credibility to my songs. :D

About my comments on chord structure and melody; the song just seemed to run together. There were no breaks or change-ups to keep the listener's attention. Maybe the chrod changes are there, it was kind of lost. Sorry.

I'm glad you found this place. I learned a lot here and everybody is very helpful. I think my tunes have come a long way because of this site.

cheers,
