i'm not sure if you need much more....seems a little bit....well....like the title........'symphomanic'.......i like that.......it fits........

it sounds like the score to legend of zelda on crack...:D

Too much high end. It hurts to listen to it. Plus it's got some some great big bottom end stuff just to piss everybody off as well.

Too much drama.

Your wife's wrong LOL. Tell her she's married to the wrong person.

I still love you though.

Okay, that was the initial reaction. Here's the more balanced response: it ain't zappa, but it does interesting things compositionally. You gotta make it sound less like the sonic equivalent of a turd, though. If you don't hate what your wife says completely, I mean.

That bit that starts in at 4.54 is really good. This is a movie soundtrack.

You know, I'd like to hear this again, but with less ugly sounds in the mix.

This song made me think of a movie soundtrack for a star wars type movie. Very creative to put all of that together! Walter

Interesting........it is a little bright.....
sounds like movie score music for sure.........like when they're doing a flyover of the ship as passengers and cargo are being loaded ..........with dramatic sections as the main characters show up......
You should do some more of this......I think it's pretty cool.....makes me want to try some......:)
Joro's right....the part at 4:50 is very nice and more complete and structured than the earlier parts.
Did you make this up on the fly or plan it out?

I'm pleasantly surprised Dee-Dub as this is a airy (and somewhat
"shiny") production! I liked the crescendo @ 4:56 with the timpani's adding accentuation and also the mellow string/flute work at 6:40.
This from a homie who rock's the heck outta' "Wine, Wine,Wine!"

Excellent!

This was done on the fly. I bought the keyboard and then the software package, loaded up the mac, hooked everthing up.
I spent 14 hours straight with nothing but a short break for some food and thats what I came up with. 15 tracks.
If I could play keys better I could do better.
The progression starting at 4:56 you may recognize as the chorous of "Nantucket Sleighride" by Mountain. Didnt mean to do it but it just came out that way. Modulated to 3/4 and measures doubled.
Ok, so I stole it, but I did write the rest.

huh?

ok........

"the part at 4:50 is very nice and more complete and structured than the earlier parts."

but, I think Dobro said it first... :D

Very interesting to see you do something different Jay....

I think the composition and arrangement are really cool....
but, the performance/production could be better...
I do not work in MIDI therefore I can't give you any suggestions....there sure is a lot going on here...
perhaps a better soundfont for htge pizzacato strings and the french horn would be cool....I liked the string ensemble font..

Take it easy man,
Joe

Joro.....Dobro......all those foreign funny sounding names run together! :D:D:D

Sorry...................oops.

Funny names?

You should see what Lt Bob looks like from where I'm sitting LOL.

Hold on here, Pahtna,

Didnt we do this before?

Is this the same tune you put up over a year ago, or a remake of it? I recognize the main motif at the beginning. I assume it is a remake, I dont recall the first one being this long.

Some interesting parts.

I personally would make it more abstract than imitative. In other words, dont try to emulate an orchestra exactly. The preset patches arent cutting it. I would prefer hip synth sounds, even if it sounds nothing like an orchestra.

I would take out some of the Timpani. In Orchestral music, Timpani is used Sparingly. My violin Part to an Opera can be 100 pages long, the Timpani's part will be 4 pages.

Hearing it again...

Musically it is very cool, some nice ideas. I personally would quantize this a lot, some of the parts just dont line up, and I am guessing they should.

Again, I hope this is a midi file. Instead of using the orchestral presets, I would use synth sounds that work better together.

On second listen, it is the Timpani that bothers me the most, it is dominating the tune. If you go hear a symphony, check out how infrequently the Timpani is used, and they usually only have 3, so that means only 3 notes can be played without extensive retuning, which is a bitch.

Very impressive, great job.
