just set up a quick myspace for my band Motivational Speakers, here's a track we recorded one day "Lee Jam", there's a few fudged lines, but its my first analog recording, oberheim drum machine through roland space echo, fender rhodes, guitar and bass and other stuff, i'd love some feedback if you feel like checking it out!

thanks a lot, hope you can get your hands on one its a really cool machine from what i've experienced so far.

Did you do any mixing? I did notice a fair amount of tape hiss. Is that on purpose? Maybe the levels were not as high as they should be. I have forgotten if you have DBX units or not. If you don't the DBX 150's are an excellent match for the 38 The 150x is supposed to be a good match as well but I have not used them. Did you say you were using 456 tape? I can't remember. It's a good start.

yeah i mixed it, you can tell where the beat drops out and its just the snare, thats on board, just messing around really, there's a ton of tape hiss cause i don't have any dbx units yet, and i was told it was 456 when i bought it, but i could have been lied to. its all live, just a few mics in the room with the drum machine and rhodes direct, if i remember correctly. i think i remember the levels being pretty good when we recorded it, so noise reduction would be pretty sweet. too bad im moving and need to come up with a security deposit, totally broke at the moment! the space echo is super noisy, i wouldn't be surprised if most of the hiss was from the space echo just recorded on the tape, but who knows.

That's cool. Just to do a quick test if you want, email me a few individual tracks I will run it with my 38 and 150's to see if we can clean the sound up. It wouldn't have to be anything fancy. I just think I'd be cool. PM me or send me an email if you want to try it.

that would be sweet, i did it on my room mates computer, ill get at you as soon as i get them.

good stuff. nice song, now just needs singing. hiss is acceptable in my opinion, i think the low-mid range frequencies are waay too high in the mix, especially during the middle part of the song, the low-mids are just too loud, not sure if its the reverb or the eq thats the problem.

I like that :D. I don't mind the hiss. Doesn't sound much like an Oberheim drum machine at the start but ?

Keep at it, it's right up our Lonely Few alley for sure.

:)
