Our First recording/mix...by 14 year olds

Yeah so we are 14 and have our first recording using kristal, a few mics, and a crappy PA head to sub as a mixer. so here is our first recording...as you can guess, its nothing special. But comments on the song would be good, no vocals yet. check it out, and give suggestions, as they are greatly appreciated.

yeah it looks like soundclick might be down. Do check back later. thanks

the second note the bass hits (3rd note played...second pitch) is out of tune. when the drums come in, you can't hear the clean guitar anymore....too much bass. mess around with the levels more. drums could definitely use some more EQ. did you mic the kick drum? i think you should solo the drums and work hard on those first, and then balance the rest of the instruments with it. nice song though.

Thanks, yeah the levels are kind of off. I will definately work on that. Yeah, there was a mic on the kick drum...a computer mic, cause thats all we had. Well the drum micing is 3 computer mics, and 2 dynamic mics. i think the one that was on the kick was the one that wasnt working. We will probably re record the whole song next weekend. I guess you could consider this a rough draft.

Hey, you guys have some thing going for 14 years old. Im not a drummer but i would tell the drummer to just slow down. He doesnt need to have so many hits in a measure. You guys sound like you play pretty well together though. stay with it.

thanks man. hah, yeah our drummer is crazy, he really takes advantage of being the best 9th grade percussionist in the state.

hissssssssssssssss
intro guitar is out of tune...badly (or is that a bass playing the low notes on the intro)? Whatever it is, tune it. haha.

you guys rock for a 9th grade band. I've recorded 2 8/9/10 grade bands recently. You kill one of them, and and pretty even in style/talent i'd say with the other ones. Nice work.

oh yeah, and i'm a drummer, and i say: be so glad that your drummer can keep a beat. man oh man, you'd be surprised how many bands come to record with drummers who can not even stay on a beat that they set thierselves..it's rediculous. ha.

Yeah, what we did was take out the intro completely, so now its just like a short intro song...and it has lyrics now so i will post it sometime after school, hah.
