First post. Q re DI'ing bass

Hi there.

I have an Ampeg SVT2p pre amp. It has a balanced xlr out. Can I use this out straight to a desk for recording my Bass guitar, which is an old Rick? Or will I still need a di box?

You can just plug it right into your board. An XLR out on a preamp is basicly a DI-out 99% of the time, and your preamp is of high enough quality to give you a good if not great signal. My Behringer basshead has an XLR out, which is a DI, but a crappy one.
