BTW - the song is about continuous ear infections I had until about 5 years ago. A real PITA.

I would bring out the vocal by either slightly low-passing the content of the rest or decreasing HF on reverb.

That short bit where the bottom drops out of the wall of sound and there's just voices and an acoustic, and then the verby panning guitar - that's magic - that's why the return to the main chorus/verse structure sounds fresh. Well done.
