I like it Chris. Guitar tone is cool, and the tempo changes are interesting. Good drum sounds.

Yeah good stuff Finster. The guitars seem a little chuggy at the chuggy bits if that makes any sense to you. Only way i can think to explain it though! The lead guitar parts have a good tone. Is that a synth in the mix there?

sounds really good. the bass sounds really cool, and i like your drums with one small exception.
im so used to the 80's smack/crack on the snare, that i sometimes can be bias, so take my opinion for what its worth in with that in mind. Different is good when it comes to music so i applaud that, but its just my personal prefference, that id like to hear a big "crack" with some kind of gated verb during the slower feel of the drums. just a little darker sounding, not so bright.
the song reminded me of the band "Testemant" during alot of it, then kinda went into that newer sounding prog metal like "shadows fall". very cool man.

Sounds nice!
I might try to lower the snare a bit and maby raise the rhythm guitars a bit too.
Sounds are nice, gtrs and drums especially. To my ear snare might be just a biiiiiit too roomy
(but dunno what happens if you lower the volume). Kick might be, again just a little, too big.
Then I don't actually like the AC guitar tone, too piezo here. I would prefer a more "natural" sound. But that might just be something that can't be argued

Finster- Sounds good man, you have some cool riffing going on in this. It sounds to me like the right guitar is slightly louder than the left guitar.
I can't really put my finger on it but the keys aren't sitting right to my ears. Maybe reference some newer Dark Tranquillity or Natural born Chaos ere Soilwork for ideas on that. Could just be that they are lurking in too many freq's. A Hi-pass might do the trick.
The bass tone is killer but Im only catching it in certain places. I love it when the bass sounds broken up and distorted.
Were the kick and Snare triggered? OK thats about it haha cool stuff. Looking forward to a finished version

). i think of prog metal like dream theater, queensrych, maiden, fates warning, and quite a few Euro melodic metal bands. I couldnt quite think of the term to use, and just kinda went what i thought they were calling it these days.my description would be "cookie monster screamo, NUE chugga chugga metal". No disrespect meant towards those who like shadows fall, just my take on it.
also this has nothing to do with the original post, i can hear alot of room for a melodic vocal or the cookie monster vocal that this song would lend its self to.
would love to hear the finished version with vocals sometime.

Yeah, I went back t the mix today and one the guitar faders got bumped down...
The bass is not compressed in this first draft so i see what youre saying there.
nd about the keys...eq is important yes, but i think its really all about automation on this one. Some of these keyboard sections do absolutly ZERO for the song, while others make it great....I need to automate that stuff.
And finally, nope, no samples on the drums, its all the real deal.
