Thanks, MAC2. We've thickened up the kick drum a bit from previous recordings, but we're still short of how we'd like it to sound. Also, I think the fact that the drums are a little lower than we used to mix them factors in... And I just got a C1 and am still learning it, but if you have any tips on getting that tone on a vocal take that builds to a scream, I'd owe you big time...
shackrock -- thanks for listening and posting. luckily, the intro bass tone is intentional

. And yes, the drums are fake (an old BOSS 660, actually). We've tweaked them about as much as we can, but its still an ongoing process...
dctalkdotnet -- thanks for your comments. i'd be surprised if anyone out here couldn't tell we're using a drum machine, but we have been lucky enough to fool some less savvy listeners. Yeah, the production on the newer P.O.D. stuff is nice (Howard Benson, I think). My ideal kit sound would be closer to Terry Date's work on Deftones "Around the Fur" disc, but I think that's out of our reach (especially with our drum machine).
Any other suggestions on how to beef up the vox or on the mix in general? Any experts on the BOSS 660 (and building drum sounds) would be more than welcome as well...
