firewire question (mac)(presonus firestudio project

i recently bought a firestudio project for a good price and today was the day i wanted to spend on buying a computer

i was gonna get this

but it comes with a firewire s800 connection and after reading on presonus's website i found that there is known problems with not using a firewire400 port can i still buy the mackbookpro and use a cable since it is suposed to be backwards-compatible?

is this gonna work
 
Unless there's some really bizarre firmware bug in the FSP, it should work just as well or badly with FireWire 800 as it does with FireWire 400....

P.S. Presonus seems to do their best to come up with excuses for their broken firmware and hardware. The FireStudio is based on a TC Electronic DICE II chipset, which is a colossal train wreck on both Mac OS X and Windows. Hope it works for you. Sadly, even if you follow their hardware recommendations to the letter, there's still a good chance it won't.
