Hi,
It has been an up-hill battle trying to learn the routing in the Control Console software that came with my Presonus Firestudio 26x26.
Just when I thought I was getting it, I've been foiled again, and am wondering if someone could help.
I recently installed Snow Leopard on my Mac (an upgrade from the Tiger OS). From what I read, I did not expect the Firestudio to work - I thought that I would have to download new, beta drivers from the Presonus website.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the unit worked perfectly after the installation of Snow Leopard; I was able to play Garageband files created under the previous OS (Tiger), and was able to route the playback of those files to my speakers and headphones using the mixes I had previously created in the Control Console.
However, I must have changed a setting because tonight I cannot get any playback signal to route to the speakers or headphones - I can only route the playback to my Mac Pro's built-in speaker.
I am able to record, by plugging a mic. into the Firestudio, so I know that the FS, the GB software, and the mic. are all working. I am continuing to route the signal to the speakers and headphones in the same way that I was doing previously, using the 'mixer' tab in the Control Console, but I wonder if I have altered a setting in the 'output/router' tab - an area I don't really understand - because, as mentioned above, I can only get a playback that I can hear on the computer's speaker (I get this if I change the output preferences in teh computer from the FS to built-in speaker).
I am only outputting to speakers (from 'main out' on the back of the FS, using outputs 1/2 in the 'output' section of the 'mixer' tab), and headphones (going from outputs 3 and 4 on the back of the FS, and routing to 'output' 3/4 in the 'mixer' tab).
I would be very grateful if someone can help me trouble-shoot this. Please bear in mind that I don't really understand conceptually the function and operation of the mixer/output tab.
Thanks,
