i use 44.1. there are many reasons why you would want to use higher rates, but at the level i'm operating, the differences are marginal, and i save space and time
You also have to think of where the song is going and what its for. If its a demo to put online or a little promo recording, 44 is fine. If you are going to record a full CD, I would recomend recording at 96k......
I use Cubase SX3.
I would tend to record at 96k and then convert to 44.1k to mix.
My computer cant handle anything above 44.1k for mixing, but it seems to handle 44.1k very well allowing me to use like 60 channels with loads of plug-ins on the channels, and lots and lots of bussing.
what do you use to convert from 96k to 44k? and do you just record the vocals at 96k and convert right away before you even mix them and just mix them in a 44k project?
