firepod question

i'm not sure if this is different from unit to unit...but if you have a firepod, and u plug a different preamp into the line inputs (which are just the middle of the mic preamp), does it bypass the preamp on the firepod? if it doesn't, wouldn't say an avalon plugged into a firepod be pointless because the firepod's preamp is still imparting it's tone and quality?

I have owned a Firepod and now a Firestudio, if you plug into mic /line 3-8 with a 1/4 TRS you will completely bypass the Firepod's preamps.
