This might belong in The Rack but I'm a noob so I guess I can post it here.

I just got a Firepod and I would like to build an enclosure for it. I'd like to know how much ventilation it needs. I tried the search and didn't find any specific info. Do any of the Firepod users have any advice.

I can design and build the enclosure without any problem. I don't plan on any other heat producing devices in the box. I may just add a patch bay.

I would guess as long as you have a little space on either side (top + bottom) you should be fine. Something like that probably doesn't generate a lot of heat. I used a Tascam MX2424 in a full rack, and as long as nothing was directly on top of it, it did okay (until the hard drive fully crapped out on its own)

I had my Firepod in a rack about 1' high, 1' deep (6 rack space). I had a couple pre's and a power boxs in there too, but for your purposes, you could probably do a 3 rack space box and that would work. Leave a space between the Firepod and the patch bay. The Firepod does kick out a bit of heat when in use, but not terrible by any means.

I use a Firepod and it does put off some heat ..........I leave mine sitting out alone. It really does not look that bad. It is set up for rack mounting so I suppose a rack would be best for proper cooling. Might call PerSonus and ask support at 800 750-0323 or e-mail at presonus.com
