I finally decided to upgrade my pile-a-shite behringer 24-4 mixer to something credible and slightly larger.
I was origionally looking for a 24-8 when i thought i wouldnt have enough channels for the future. That then lead me on to believe a 32-8 would be the best option. I noticed a seriously large difference in prices between 8bus and 4bus, and also realised that there arent that many' Studio' large format mixer's available in the UK.
The main ones being the mackie 24/32-8. But for me to buy the 32 channel, im looking at around £3.5k then more for the meterbridge.
I looked further and found the Allen & Heath mixers. I know these are supposed to be for live large format, but i really cant see why I cant use them in studio. For a 32 Channel, 4 Bus desk, with direct outs; i was looking at £1.7k which is alot cheaper than the mackie desk, alot larger and more extensive EQ.
Why should i not go for a live desk in the studio if it does the same thing?
