Well thats the name of the song, It is the second song I have done on my DAW. I am now working on a remix because I know some things that seem to be a little off, but I will keep those to my self. I wouldn't be working on a remix allready if it had not taken MP3.com 2 weeks to aprove the song(because I don't pay them for their sevice).

I would like to know what you think might be done to improve apon the sound. I used a different mic on this song than the first one as well and I was happy to do way less EQing on the vocal tracks but let me know what you think.

OK I know MP3.com sucks but that is where it is. I have never made a dime off of them and don't plan on ever doing so. It just works as a server till I find something better.

The song is Filth. You can download it for free if you like. It is a rock song. The first song I did with the DAW is The Coffin Song if you would like to compare. The rest of the songs are done live at Fresh Tracks studio in Portland OR. We fixed nothing on the studio demo. Looking back that was a big mistake (studio time=$600.00 reproduction=$2500.00. It costs the same to dub off on thousand demos with 6 songs as one thousand demos with 15 songs. It also costs the same to dub off 6 live untouched songs as 6 fixed up songs. Well you live and you learn.

Any response would be great!!

nice song. Very good harmonies.

That sounds like either a c1 or a rode ntk. Is that correct?

I thiink that the bass could be more punchy. Also , you could double the guitar and pan them out for more space.

Also, I noticed that the song never hit zero . I think a limiter plug like ultramzximizer would work great.

I also think that the kick could be louder

Alll these did not deter from the enjoyment of the song though. Its highly enjoyable.

Sounds like David Bowie & Barry White's love child is alive and well in the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you

CyanJaguar: thank you very much for your input. The mic is an AT318 By audio-technica. It is a small diaphram condinser mic I bought used for $40.00. It had a broken solder joint inside when I got it. Easy fix:). Not the perfect vocal mic but the best I have.

I am looking into compression on the new mixdown. I plan to use a dynamic processor on it.

You don't think the bass is mixed to high?

Dolemite:

I don't know what to say. I have heard so many off the wall comparisons that I have become emmune. You though may be on too something. I am skinny ass white boy whos voice women seem to like. I am not bi though. I must lean tward Barry:)

Thanks to both of you.

Waves L1 ultramaximizer... 1st and foremost. I wanna hear it loud before I say much.
Mult that snare and get a little snap in it. I'd like to feel and hear the kick a little more. The guitars sound a bit too distant for my liking. I kinda like the bass sound, mult it off, too, compress it slightly and maybe add some distortion to the multed track and mix it in as desired for more clarity.
Kinda gothic in a David bowie kinda way. Cool harmonies, I thought I heard Paul Stanley in there. Did he do some backup vocals with ya?
Dude, Paul Stanley IS singing the harmonies. Damn, Soundgardens singer might be singing harmonies in there too. You didnt tell me you had connections. :)

Tube dude

You know Tubedude I heard paul stanley in there too. I swear it is the truth. OHHHHH tears are fallen:).

Well I hate to break it to you but the beat is an actual non royalty audio track that I cut up and mixed around. every thing else is me.
The drums are a stereo track, so mixing is out of the question. I am now working on a mix with the drums a little more out front. I am going to put real drums to it, but I am working on a new micing technique. Soon though soon. For now I will try to work tward what you suggested by using the EQ.

I am looking at Ozone for mastering. What do you think?

This version has no compression. the next one will have at least some. I am working on that. Any suggestions on the Dynamic processor end of things?

Thank you very much Tube dude. I will test do some testing and see what I come up with.

Later
