I have recently purchased a Presonus Audiobox USB Interface and a Bluebird mic. I wanted to learn more about voice effects. I am using the program that the Audiobox came with, called Studio One. There are only a few effects worth using and I really need to know if somehow I can import any effects? If so, which ones are most popular for rapping and singing?

I appreciate any and all help.

Try down loading Reaper as your DAW (program) and go from there. Lots of good vocal effects but it's hard to know exactly what you want unless you ask for certain ones.

Well autotune would be cool to mess with, but I just want to know which effects are best because some of the effects on Studio One dont blend well, it still sounds like the tracks are totally separate.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean when you say ..... some of the effects on Studio One dont blend well, it still sounds like the tracks are totally separate.

Autotune is a program, you can just change the perimeters.

What effects are you looking at besides auto-tune. Studio One has some great stock plug-ins!

I am trying to record lyrics to a live song so I think thats where my troubles lie. I guess its gonna be hard to make it sound like Im on stage during the whole thing...

I wish I knew what change perimeters meant :)

Dumping your studio/home recording of yourself onto a live sound track will sound weird.

change perimeters = twisting the knobs to get different settings of a particular effect.

Would you say Reaper is a better choice than Studio One?

Reaper is a free down load and takes up nothing to speak of on your hard drive. Do you need a link?

Ok, I will try it out. Let me ask you this... The Bluebird mic I have came with a small pop filter but I still here pops when I use "p" and "b" is it best I get a certain filter? Stand a certain distance from the mic?

Microphone technique is very important and is an art in it's self kinda like learning an instrument.
You may see in studio videos where the singer will make jerky movements with their heads. That is all part of it, along with knowing where to be *on* the microphone or sing over the top of the microphone. etc.

I remember years ago listening to vocals in recordings and saying HEY the d's and S's aren't on any of the ends of the words. I came to the conclusion that .....
A) they were backing off or tilting there heads back or ....
B) The studio engineer was performing studio magic.

Blue mics = Awsome. Blue pop filters = $**t!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to CrowsofFritz again. ;)

You've given me the majority of my rep moresound! I would gladly give some back, but you already have max!
