files load to slow...

does anybody know if there is a setting i could change within sonar to have the files that were previously recorded load quicker when i open them up in sonar? my setup is-
2.2ghz Pent 4
512mb DDR ram
60 & 20 gb 7200 rpm hard drives
WinME is the operating system

any help would be appreciated. thanks.
 
Well, first of all, ...WinME. :rolleyes: :D you know the rest.. :) Win XP better.
I play around with AUD.INI file sometime can boost your SONAR.
I use these setting, and it''s good.

[Aud]
PicCacheMB=100
CopyOnImport=1
ReadCache=1
WriteCache=1
ClipMix=1
DiskBufSize=128
DiskRecBufSize=128
DiskBuffers=64

I've never altered other section, just don't feel into.

i know about the WinMe thing already. im in the middle of recording a project right now and will change to XP after its over. but i made the changes. still have the same problems on some of the songs.
what im talking about is when you open a project, it takes a little bit for the recorded wav files to look like files rather than just the empty little boxes that show up before you see the actualy file in the little boxes. do you know what i mean?

PicCacheMB=100 <-- Change this to larger value... lets say 300 to 500, depends on the room on your HD. Hope it helps. ;)
 
i put that setting at 500. it still didnt do the trick. and i think my HD is good enough. being a 60 gb 7200 rpm western digital.
i dont know, any other ideas?
 
i think thats just how Sonar is and you can't do any thing about it
