There's a new sketch up; a fiddle tune called Red Haired Boy. I'm still working on it, but it might be a good clinic sketch. I presently have it panned hard left and right for the August East Coasters to work with.

I'm at a computer without a soundcard (!) so y'all are going to have to tell me if it downloads OK until I get home...

lo-fi works sounded good recording was clean ,song was a little short tho, need to get some lyrics, unless you want to keep it solo. over all good job.

Hi Fi was sounding sweet here! At 320 Kbps 48KHz it better!!
Good show!
That tune is a bit on the ambitious side for the fest but it might work. PG and DW both have a flair for this type of picking.

I love this piece. It definitely does the job as a sketch. 320kbps rocks and that guitar deserves to be heard that clearly. Some day a Taylor will be mine. What's the mic, micing position, and pre?

Doc: Yeah it's ambitious but too much fun to pass up. Plus Glenn has the ball rolling plenty early enough. I just gotta get the fingers limber again since I've been playing a lot more drums than guitar lately. It'd be great if DW has time to jump in too.

You're gonna kill me....

Direct inject to the board.

I installed a b-band dual source system, with a Core 99 preamp in the guitar two or three years ago. There's an undersaddle electret ribbon transducer (not a piezo) and a condenser mic on a goosneck inside the guitar. Sends two signals.

I use a TRS cable from the guitar into a y-connector, split directly into channel 2 and 3 in my Mackie CFX mixer, trim level as high as I could get away with, low cut filters on, nearly flat EQ, all effects off and everything muted that wasn't necessary to drive the tape outs. RCA tape outs to the direct in of my soundblaster live card; n-track, learning to use the mixer to lose boominess and just a hint of reverb.

Hey, Phil - Willya post up a link to Brown Ridge Stomp? Willya?

You call this a fiddle tune? Where is the damn fiddle??:p

This sounds really great on my system, amazingly clear, better than most mp3s I download. I assume it is because of the 320kps (and of course the great job you did).

Really enjoyed this Treeline. I hope I can make the jam and add a real fiddle. Really first class.

Now yer talkin'

Thanks for the kind (and patient) words; I hope to see you in August. Jeez, now you've got me thinking of this tune with a real fiddle. We're gonna get scary here, boys, real soon!

I noticed an awful timing glitch that somehow sailed right past me the first few times I played it back. Now it hits me in the nose every time. We'll see what we can do...

hmmm...

medley....

Remember Bromberg's Yankee Revenge medley? Full cranking band, Billy Novick on the tin whistle, the works. It was Leather Britches / Red Haired Boy / Teetotaler's Reel / The Wind That Shakes The Barley / Drowsy Maggie, with a key modulation in the middle. Cut time, as I recall... Knock the windows right out of the place.

Now wouldn't that be a hoot.:D :D

I don't normally like the sound of direct ins on acoustic, but I gotta admit this sounds really good.

Brown Ridge Stomp can be found on Nowhere under "Jackson 'n' Jackson", for anyone else who might be interested in getting some ideas for the jam-fest.

David: Real fiddle will be great! Since QQ isn't here, I'll say the magic words. Your attendance is manditory!!
