Howdy, lately I have been wanting to add some guitar amps to my studio. The only amp I have is an original Vox AC-30TB I bought in my younger years. I wanted to add a Fender amp to my lineup foremost, so what would be a relatively cheap ( smaller is better sizewise) Fender amp that would give that sparkling classic Fender sound? Yet, I would want it to have the dynamics when picking and when cranked give the crunch, and I would like it to react well to distortion pedals. Thanks for your help!

So, it is all of what I asked? Three pedals I have and want to use with it are a Dano Fab Tone, Dano Daddy-O, Maxon OD808.

I've been using a Princeton Chorus for several years and can't complain. If the two 10 inch speakers and the 12 watt (stereo) isn't quite enough the Fender Ultimate Chorus is basicly a 65 watt across two 12 inch speakers and a very reliable amp for both recording and small venue gigs too. Fender has a couple of other amps in the same range which might suit you better, but for me the princeton chorus has proven itself both in versatility and durability. Good luck

the Deluxe really is the classic Fender amp, in a smaller package. When most people think "Fender sparkly clean" they are talking about a Twin, or a Twin Reverb. The Deluxe is basicly half a twin. Twin is 2x the power, 2x the speakers, and 2x the channels. A deluxe would fit your bill.

I'll add another vote for the Deluxe. It's a great "classic" Fender amp. Having gone to the dark side myself, I use a POD Pro simulator. My 2 favs are the Deluxe and the AC30 sims. Great sounds!

Another for the Deluxe Reverb. Don't get a solid state Fender if you want the "classic" Fender sound. Stay with their tube line and reissue series if you want my $.02. I own the Super Reverb now and have owned a twin and M-80 in the past. The Super is beautiful, but probably too big for what you want. Definitely the Deluxe...your description of what you are looking for is almost custom-fitted to what the Deluxe is.

I would suggest that you take a look at the Tech21 Trademark 60. I used to be a tube amp junkie, so getting a solid state amp seemed like a risk to me, but it's more than gotten the job done.

Basically, Tech21's thought was rather than try and create a modelling amp (which everyone else is trying and failing at), they decided to make a darn good amp, and it ends up pretty much covering the range of Fender, Marshall and Vox tones, and even infringes on Mesa territory, although its best sound is the clean Fender. Although it is solid state, it has the dynamic sensitivity and saturation of a tube amp.

Try and find a shop that carries them and play with one for a while. Either you'll love it or you'll hate it, but it does a great job for me.

They don't call it Fender Clean for nothin. My personal opinion, most of the amps in the Fender family will supply you with that **sparkly clean**. Where Fender amps always seem to differ is how they handle distortion. You should start there and play every amp they've got cranked with lots of distortion.

Another vote for the Deluxe Reverb. Great amp and the epitome of classic Fender tone.

The Blues Junior is fairly ubiquotous and probably destined to become a classic as well.

What are your thoughts on a fender champ? I was looking at getting one to use for home recording at (relatively) low volumes? I'm talking the 70's champ, the kind you can usually find for $150-$200, very low wattage.

Ditto on the Deluxe!

Have it!
Love it!
Won't live without it!

Hotrod Deville

does anyone here have a hotrod deville? and how would you describe it?

I used to have both a 4x10 Blues Deville and a 2x12 Blues Deville, both tweed, pre- hot rod models. I liked them both very much for country/blues playing. With the right pedals in front, you can make them sound like anything though. the one thing that bothered me about them is that the volums knobs on both were very jumpy. It went from zero volume to really loud with barely touching it.
