hey, I listened to the first two songs. I like your lyrics and delivery. The arrangment of the songs seem fetal and unexplored. The songs could use some stronger dynamic elements. Have you tried these tunes with drums?

All in all, a defined sound, strong writting and playing. I think you should up the ante on the delivery.

Glad I listened.

Thanks for the tunes.

Theron.

Thanks

I have thought about adding some drums to those songs. Thank you for taking the time to listen and for the great feedback I do appreciate it.

Hey I listened to Revolver. I really liked it a lot. Great melody and i especially liked vocals. Whats your set up for it?

When the faster part comes in around 2:00, it works but at the same time it sounds rough.

The accoustic guitar sounds great but i would double track it to thicken it up. When i record acc. guitars i have found that even if the playing isnt right on, it still sounds good. Just needs thickening.

I agree with Theron on that drums would be great with this type of song. Because it doesnt sound like youre going for the coffee house sound, but rather a full sound. So drums and a punchy bass and some electric lead weaving in and would just put this song over the edge.

cool song

WOW I get the best feedback here at the home recording site. Thank you for listening sondriven and I am glad you liked the song. Let's see for my set up to record revolver I doubled my vocal and doubled the guitar (though I believe you are right in that the acoustic isn't thick or clear enough) and a bass line. I used reverb on the left vocal track and clean on the right. It is a reverb that comes with my Tascam-788. Wich is what I recorrded all of these songs on. The only other effects I use is a Digitech GSP-2101 for my electric guitars. I do believe I am going to add drums to revolver and I really liked to idea of the lead guitar weaving. I really really appreciate the feedback from you and theron, Thanks Again ALL OF ME

I listened to all four of your songs. (I just installed a new cable modem and now have a high speed link so I can listen to a LOT of music.)

I liked your material. It reminds me of Everlast, which I also like when he does some of his more melodic stuff. Anyway, here are some suggestions, that IMHO, I would like to see you try.

First, you are using a lot of effects on the vocals and I think that running the vocals on Revolver through a De-Esser and tapering back the effects would make the words more clear. The vocal hiss is distracting. The acoustic sounds a little thin, but there is good balance between voice and guitar until about 2 minutes in, when it speeds up and then the guitar seems to saturate the mix and steps on the vocal. Overall I liked the song and would encourage you to keep it guitar only, forget adding drums, you get a nice percussive effect from the guitar, why mess it up with a hi-hat?

On Peace, another good song. I would like to hear the vocals a little higher in the mix. It sounds as if you used multiple tracks on vocals, it would have been nice to try panning the vocal tracks a little wider. (Again, just my opinion.)

Funny How the Mind Grows came across very muddy on the bottom end. It could have been the software that you used to make the MP3. I've had this problem with some of the "Freebie" MP3 software.

On In Me Again, this is a really good song. The only thing I would suggest is that if you do another mix-down, try to get the volume on the mix with compression and don't normalize. Some of the software normalization tends to step all over the midrange. I don't know why, but it seems to me that it is a problem.

I think that you have a lot of skill as a song writer and have a good commercial sound. Your voice is good so don't use too many effects. Let your natural voice come through as it makes the personality of the song more human.

Keep up the good work.

As a suggestive after thought. Have you tried a backup vocal that is really loose, emotional, crass and strung out. Try holding notes beyong the lyrical phrasing.

You sound like you've a similar temperment in your vocals as I do.
Just for fun and experiment, let the vox go crazy on a back up track and see what that adds.

You can always erase it!.

Peace,
Theron

Thanks Sonic Misfit and Theron, I am going to try all of these things you guys have mentioned. Honestly (In Me Again and Funny How The Mind Grows) were the first songs that I recorded on my 788, so I definetly am very much learning the recording process and that is exactly why you feedback has been so beneficial to me. Thanks Again.
