FD-8 recording only 1:30?!?

Hello,

I just scored a FD-8 from ebay w/ 250zip.
Waiting for the IDE cable kit to arrive
to hookup this 30gig drive.

We get about 6 mintues record time on a 100meg ZIP. Exactly 1min 30sec into
the recording, the record button turns off.
Usually we dont notice till we're done playing.

What am I doing wrong?

did you format the disk for normal or master? I had problems recording to a Zip 250 as well... I don't think the drive is fast enough for "master" mode recording. Mine never stopped, but I had a lot of clicks and pops. Switched to a SCSI HD and all is fine. Where did you order the HD install kit? I tried ordering from Fostex and never got a response.

We used normal mode. It did seem
to take quite a while after we hit 'stop'
to sync the data to ZIP - your guess
about the SCSI ZIP being slow is probably true.
The 1:30 may be the size of the memory buffer.

I ordered the cable kit from Fostex. It is NOT a IDE IDC 44 pin. It's a special(-ed) cable.

I called, left voicemail, emailed, and then called a different dept. Someone got back to me the same day, placed the order for the cable ($30), and he sent me the new firmware to load via ZIP.
