Well I've got the vox done (More or Less) for False Crusader, and a new mix too. Thanks to all those that commented on the original. Somethings I tried to address are:

Better stereo imaging
Guitars a bit more prominent
A bit more crack on the snare
A more defined kick
A bit more bottom end

I don't think this mix is 100%, but we are real close.

Warning:The new Vox on the verses are far more aggressive than before (However I kept the chorus vox the same, and they sound better now, in contrast to the main vocal).

You can download the new version here:

(You can still get the original demo version too for a limited time, if you want it). Also loaded some new artwork in my pics section. http://www.mixposure.com/darkened/pics

This is a little better than the last one. I can hear the kick/bass now. The snare still needs some work. Its extremely muffled sounding. Its almost like its over compressed but If i had to make a guess its an eq thing.
The vocals are still kind of sitting out on top IMHO. Guitars still sound a little thin.
Its definitely an improvement. Keep them coming

I actually mixed the vocals a little loud (same last time), because I usually hear how the vocal is too quiet, I thought it was a bit OTT myself. It is definitely an EQ/Compression thing with the snare. The snare is a small piccolo snare with a loose tuned head, and I have struggled with it more than anything. It isn't really compressed too much but does have a brickwall limiter on it to get more volume (the track varies widely in velocity, so I'm trying to iron that out at the same time). I'm thinking of trying a multiband compressor to bring the snap out a bit more. And I think we are going to try a bit more low-mid on the guitars, and pull the bass back just hair. Thanx for the comments.

You might try sweeping around the 3k area for the snare. Im more of a knob turner myself but I believe the snap/should be somewhere in that area. You might also try doing a cut in the mids or low mids and see if it helps any?
Hope this helps...

OK people who wanted loud guitars here you go. Finally got the snare a bit better too. I actually was having trouble with this because it sounded good in the studio. I finally turned to my trusty headphones (Not even good reference headphones, but super bass thumpin' Koss headphones. I have used Koss as my pleasure headphones, for about 15 years now, and can usually trust them (more so than I trust my Reference Headphones most times)). I noticed I was moving a lot of stuff in the 4Khz range, which leads me to believe I have a mode problem or something with my room. Definitely need to hunt this problem down. Anyways, I think this mix is 99%. I want to maybe give a hair more presence to the kicks and that's it. This mix is loud, I finally had to breakdown and go to a limiter over the master fader just too be safe. I usually mix with much more headroom, but there is a lot going on here. So anyways let me know what you all think, and I'll maybe tweak it later (Putting this one away for awhile too give my brain a rest and concentrate on actually playing again).

ThanX for all the advice folks.
