Fake drums are sounding very real

I'm looking into either DKFHS or BFD.

This type of programming is new to me so I'm looking for advice on either of the above. I think I will be using Cubase as my host.

Opinions?????? :confused:

Gorty, look at Ez-Drummer with the DFH expansion pack. There's several kits you can pick from, and it is really easy to use.
 
Gorty, I just whipped out the Ouija board and had a chat with Eric Carr. He wants you to use real drums. :eek: :D

Eric Carr is a stupid assed fox.
He just wishes he was Peter Criss!

Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent both designed their makeup from a picture of the chicken from Chicken Little. :D

I have a set of drums, half Pearl and half Maxwin.. :o It just takes so much room in my little studio and I can't be asses with setting all the mics up that I haven't got to record them...otherwise I would. :D

I use Sonar. I think it might even work with Reaper now. About teh only program I've seen it didn't work with was Audition...which I have also. :o
 
DFHS works awesome with Cubase. it's the only thing i use Cubase for these days. Reaper is better for everything else though. ;)
 
to answer a prior question in the thread, the Steven Slate Drums V2 upgrade is a free upgrade.

I have been using DFHS and Cubase for about 2 years now and have to say it is great but I still prefer real drums. I've been in an apartment so I use what I have which is programming drums. Jamstix is also an excellent program which I have too.

Now though, since I'm moving into my house next weekend, my options have changed. I can record my own kit which I prefer. I can program drums fairly well, but I can play much better and could never program 100% the way I play.

As far as sound quality, you can even get a middle of the road kit sounding good with decent mics. Alot of it is technique and mixing ability. I've recorded my old drummers PDP lower end kit in an average room with my mics and made it sound good. I've found you don't need an expensive studio to have a good drum sound. People some how make due with what they have...
 
yeah i think his issue is not gonna be so much about the sound quality, but more about isolation and keeping the neighbors out of it.
 
What about a V-kit with DFH/BFD? That way you'd still sound like "you". That really is the most important part, the playing.

It would work fine. The electronic kit just sends midi info just like the keyboard would. (assuming you use a keyboard to send the midi info for EXDrummer). Anymidi device can work for DFH or BFD.

I'm just using a mouse for mine right now... :(

I'd like to get an electronic kit, now that I can bang on the drums a little...
 
The main thing besides you actually playing is that when you record your drums, they usually have a somewhat authentic sound VS something like DFHS. Just because alot of people use these samples, granted though they can sound different when mixed. But stuff like DFH and EZ Drummer, they sound alike and a bunch of other people will have the same sound.

I've owned edrums before and they were alright... I still prefer an acoustic kit though 100% 10 times over.
