I'm tempted to buy this mic off of eBay.

linkypoo

Do you reckon it's a fake?

The guy has good feedback, but that price is just too good to be true. I've been reading about these fake Shures coming out of China. I mean presuming that pic is of the actual product, could it still be a fake? Like do they forge the manuals, boxes etc too.

Appreciate anyones opinion.

Cheers

That mic looks like the real deal to me.

Looks real to me.
It has the shure mic clip and all the paper work and shure mic bag.
How much is AU $45.00 in US dollars?

$32

Edit: I'd presume that's ridiculously cheap for you guys too?

that would be very cheap. average new price online is about $90. something's up. have you contacted the seller or any of the people he has dealt with?

Yes. He says that they are genuine, but what else is a con artist going to say.

I've contacted another Aussie, who's ordered like 6, but he only bought them a few days back. I'll probably contact some others. It's just funny that he's got a feedback of 30+ and everyone's said that his products are great - mainly Shure beta 58s. Hmmmm.... frustrating.

Go ahead and buy one. For that little money, if it sounds good who cares if its real or not? If it is a fake (which I would doubt, considering it has all the paperwork and everything), chances are it probably wouldn't sound worse than a genuine 57 anyways.

i have gotten a shure sm57 on e bay before from hongkong and i am still not sure whether it is the real thing. It came just like that one you have seen on e bay with all the paper mic clip, box, case etc.. but i thought it was just too cheap to actually be the real thing. Even though it sounds amazing at anything i use it for (except maybe screaming vocals) it was just the price that was unconvinsing. If it was a fake it was a real good fake and sounded just like the original. If i was in Australia i would buy about 10, keep four of them, and then stick the rest on ebay. People on e bay are going to trust someone from their own country rather than someone from china, hong king etc..
You would probably make as much as you paid for them so voilaa you have 4 shure sm57's for free. or fake ones. I know my cheap one off ebay is great!

That picture looks like the real thing. However, that's no guarantee that what you get will be what is pictured.

This guy has very little feedback this month, and his earlier auctions for Shures were single items that closed at reasonable prices.

I'm suspicious, so if he really has 72 of them, wait a couple of weeks and see what happens with other buyers before you buy.

That is a fake. I have one. Look at the logo on the sticker compared to the box. Notice how the logo on the mic, the R in SHURE is rasied up above the normal text whereas the real logo is dropped down slightly. When you get this mic you will notice a few other slight imperfections such as a non rotating plastic end, a lower quality of sticker, a slightly different colour, slightly different threading on the screw thread etc. It seems to sound ok though.

On the side, how likely is it that you'd get a fake from an authorized dealer?

I wouldn't need to ask for such price... if I need it, then I'll just get it, nothing to loose but a price of a lunch anyway...

Item location: Jiangsu
China

Posts to: Australia, New Zealand

  :D

what are you talking about?

Well money for one thing. $60 is well on the way to a real one I don't have cash to burn at present.

dont even pay that much for it, look, someone on thi website recomended another site that they sell them for 30$. they are the same exact thing, the only difference is it says es-57 but IMO, the recordings sound even better than an sm-57 here is a link www.speakerrepair.com

- hope this helps ,Luis

From what I've read about the es57, it's NOT the exact same thing. It definately does'nt look the same and from what I've heard from people that own them, they sound very similar but not exactly the same. How can you tell if the recordings sound better than an sm57? Did you hear the recordings done with the sm57 and es57?

Don't mean to bust your balls but there's no sense in saying things like this.

Perhaps they can offer it so cheap because of communism...

...just kidding. I sent a message to the seller asking why they sell so low. Even if it IS a knockoff... they picked the right mic to knock off!
