Do you guys think burlap is a suitable fabric for sound absorbing panels and bass traps? I'm doing a fairly large project and fabrics are pretty expensive. Burlap seems to be pretty cheap. Do you think it'll do the job. And if not can anyone recommend a suitable yet inexpensive fabric?

To me, because I'm on a quest to get every bit of plastic off of stage and out of my studio, burlap is the best possible thing you could use. Also pretty good are the canvas drop clothes they sell at paint stores - I love that material so much if I was in Korea I'd get a custom suit made out of it.

You can paint or stencil designs on it and it can look great.

Nobody seems to be into it but I love lahala, I don't know if they have that in the mainland. It's a tree that they use the leaves to makes mats and all sorts of things from. It has wonderful sound qualities and is real cheap.

Sweet I'll probably get burlap because it seems to be readily available in ever fabric store.

Another problem I'm running into is that the room I'm setting up is very small and has windows and odd placement of the door and closet. So, I'm making a ton of sound absorbers and I seriously doubt I'll be able to put that many in this room. The guitars will be hanging on the wall which means less room for sound absorbers.

I may have to just set some up in my sons room which is right next to my home studio room and borrow his room every now and then for recording drums :laughings:

I don't think he'll mind too much.
