Very interesting production; sounds very 1979-1981ish... it has that roller disco vibe, or something... very similar instrumentation, and esp. the verb on the voice... you sound like David Byrne. There's even some Beach Boys flavor thrown in.

Nice cover, Tom

I dont know why but when i click the link using netscape its like I`m gettin binary code from an ftp site on the screen. What can I do?

Use a real browser like Internet Explorer.:D

No seriously, just right click the link and choose "Save Link As" and download it.

cool! strange sound to this one.. In a way it sounds too live and roomy sounding, but I almost like the naturalness in the sound.. Was it a mics hanging from the ceiling type thing?

man I like the Beatles..

this has that bar-band sound... like I walked into my fav bar during a soundcheck... nice cover.

Kudos for a job well done!

Yes, it does sound ambient, and I think that's cool. I'd be curious about what you're recording on, and how. That recording's a really fine example of covering the Beatles and home recording, so I'm making you an honorary member of the "Davemania" community, haha.;)

Good job, cool song, and listening to it makes me want to produce 'something new'. Anyway, maybe I'll do that a little later, but the kid across the street wants me to record his garage band, so I'm outta here for now.

Good job/thumbs up!

I saw this post earlier and lent an ear, but got off onto something else and never came back. When I saw the subject, I thought of Davemania.
And low and behold, here ya are. :) Good to see ya Reel.

Anyway, I really like the way you did the song, Tom.
Sound real good.

Tom,

When this Mac user tries to download your tune, this is what I get:

Oh man, what's up with the "etc." part Crawdad? Just when it was getting good, too. This damned computer I'm using only downloads the song. :D :D But those directions you posted look pretty self explanatory anyway.

Oh yeah, Tom. I enjoyed it. New stuff is fun, eh? Come back more often.

Thanks guys.
Sometimes I just track for the fun of it.This was a quick and dirty project that was a blast. Now I'll probably get all wound up tweaking and whittling the mix...Nah!
The details for those who care are...
VAmp2-guitars using a Marshall patch
AudioBuddy-D.I. bass
SM57-all voci
ECM8000s X2,RS33-3032 X3,SM57 on drum kit
nuendo on an anthlon 1700,w98se with a little compression and EQ on individual tracks and a plate verb across the master bus to put it all in the "same room".

Apologies to Crawdad for using .wma format.Microsoft does have a downloadable codec for Macs to play these types.

id be interested to hear it without the plate verb over the whole mix....or with 3 different verbs (1 on drums, 1 on vocal, 1 on the different rhythm instruments....)

but i dug the song...it got me moving again, so mission accomplished.......

Hi Tom--Yeah, I know the player exists. Its just a hassle to reset my default player in my browser, download the thing and then switch it all back just to hear one song.

Which brings me to the subject of Nowhere radio! There, your files go out to both the PC and Mac world--no problem, no muss, no fuss. Thats a big reason I use it--so I can share my Mac files with PC users without format problems. Expands your audience, so to speak. Plus, I think Waldo and Nowhere Radio is doing a fantastic job for all us homewreckers.

Takle this all as just a friendly suggestion from a guy whos too frikkin lazy to do computer manipulations. :D

i like it. my set list has it's share of beatles, and this is one of my favorites. i think the reverb is appropriate in this context. ;) good job.

I spent a couple of hours after work using EQ and pan to open up the mix and unmask some competing frequencies.Spurred on by Gidge and others (bows to forum).Back In The USSR remix

damnit!! it wont play for me:confused: i don't know what the deal is?? it seemed to download fine, then nothing.

go figure:mad:
