Is it weird to have a lot of eye contact with audience members? Obviously I'm not talking about staring just one person out throughout the whole concert, but I mean say every now and then look at different people in the audience for a few seconds or more, just enough to be significant?

Or is that just strange? I'm thinking it could be quite powerful

Depending on the genre (i.e. for most genres), I think it's a good idea. I think interacting with the audience makes it a more memorable and personal experience for them.

I like the eye contact thing, both as a performer and as an audience member. Indeed, it can be powerful.
