Hello all,

I have the digi 001 system. My computer has an 80 G Hardrive. , I'm told that It would run more efficiently if I used another internal or external hard drive to run my PT recording program on and use my 80 g to store the info. Would anyone have any suggestions as to what brand of hard drive? I'm also thinking of going with some brand of SCSI Hard drive instead of an IDE. Any enlightenment is appreciated!

Scuzzy

I'm told that Scuzzy was a little faster. I just want to get what works. I don't have time to spend experimenting. So, if you could impart some of your wisdom I'd appreciate it. I know recording - not computers. Thank you!

SCSI isn't worth the extra money for DAW use. Search this BBS for SCSI and IDE and you'll get some info...

You really don't need SCSI with the Digi 001 and PTLE. In fact, if you have ultra fast SCSI, it is recommended that you decrease the speed to 10-30 Mb/sec. The basically negates the advantage of having SCSI. So, you would be better off getting a smaller Ultra 100 IDE drive (7200 rpm) for your Win programs, operations system and PTLE. 20 G is a common size and IBM Deskstar and WD seems to be the most popular drives. Keep your 80 G drive for your audio files. 80 gig is a large drive, you may even want to considering partitioning it into two 40 G partitions. If you do any video work, you could keep video files on the other partition, or just separate your audio files.
