Yes I know that SX is better than SL, but, I was trying to use a compressor (dbx) last night w/ my delta 1010 (rackmount). I couldn't figure the best way to hook it up. The way I began was I went from output 8 into the comp, out of the comp recording back into chanel #8. I had the outputs and inputs set correctly to get signal out and back in to Cubase. But I couldn't hear the effects of the comp.

I'm thinking my monitoring settings were mucked up. But, once it was recorded I could hear that the new track was effected. Of course there was some delay as a result of latency, all I had to do was nudge the track over a little. But the problem is I can't adjust the comp properly as I can't hear it.

Any advice?

Record to a different track and turn the original (ie track 8) down and monitor the new signal comming from the commpressor (ie track 9) now you should be able to hear whats going on.

hmm, but if I turn the track down I won't get a signal to my comp.

You are correct, I lost my mind! yeah dont turn down track 8, I meant if it is routed right, ie track 8 out to rack and into track 9 you should only hear the processed track anyways ;)

OK, I think that is how I set it up. I had the output in my kick channel set to hardware channel 8, but I could still hear it in my monitor. In hindsight this doesn't make sense, if I had the output set to channel 8 I shouldn't hear it in my monitor chanel (set to output 1&2). But I definitly did have signal coming from chanel 8 to my comp and it was being recorded back to a new track via chanel 8 input. I must be missing something

Make sure that you dont have the "Monitor Mixer" checked in the Delta control panel! that can cause you to hear track 8 through the main outs!
