hi everyone. this is my first post so be gentle! have recently acquired a tascam dp02 cf, just starting to get to grips with it but wondered if anyone had any tips around a good external effects unit. nb don't have a huge budget... thanks

You might get better response from "The Rack" section of this board, since you are asking about outboard effects.

I'd say go with some not too expensive multi effects. The 2 I use most are an older ART MultiVerb LT and a Lexicon MX200. The MultiVerb is all presets but they are very well done while the MX200 offers a lot of possibilities. My other toy is an AdrenaLinn III which has some amazing beat synched effects.

You can normally find Alesis microverbs and Picoverbs used cheap.
I have used them for years, they are small 1/3 rack mount width so they take up very little room and they do a lot for something so small. Reverse verbs, delays, and a variety of hall/rooms.
I have quite a few of those old Alesis 1/3 space devices, and they have all lasted years. I have a compressor I have had since the 80s.
