I have a Gibson Explorer, left handed. I find that the guitar is extremely "neck heavy", meaning that I have to almost hold the guitar up by the neck to keep it in a comfortable playing position. Is there anything I can do to change how the guitar behaves? I was thinking about re-positioning the location of the strap holder higher on the back of the guitar. Has anyone done something similar and what were the results?

Explorers are neck heavy??? Aww, no way!!!

I was thinking about getting into explorers. I thought that they were my calling. Damn, I'm sad to hear this. This makes me cry.

I'm blaming it on the schools.

thats wierd, my hammer standard is not neck heavy at all, it sits absolutly perfectly for how low i play.
putting the strap button further up technically would help since it is moving it out more since the rear of the guitar is slanted. you should tape your strap on (only if you have goo gone or somethign to remove the residue) at diffrent positions to find the perfect place. that way you wouldnt end up with 3 extra holes from positions that dont work. and all you gotta do if you cant find one in this case is take a couple of minutes to clean off the tape.
