Awhile ago i recorded my band and i went all these troubles with vocals mics. I wanted to post the song and see what everyone thought. I have since upgraded to a BLUE dragonfly, the vocals on the track are with an NTK. Let me know what other parts that need some improvement.

Thanks,
Brandon

It's kinda hard to get a grip of the song with only a 17 second snippet of the tune. What I did hear sounds good though.

nice stuff man..........the vocal kind of sounds like dashboard confessional..........nice song......i'd try making a little more room for the kick drum, but that's my only suggestion.......nice job..............

Twilight Zone

I downloaded, and only got 1.5 seconds. Anybody else having trouble?

Yes, me. It should be 2.74MB, but somehow it stops before everything's downloaded. I tried a few times, and it got longer with every try, the 3rd or 4th attempt was succesfull.

I really really like it (the reason of which may be, that this genre is my cup of tea), I'm posting more later.

Nice job! Sounds real good on my system. I can't think of anything critical to say except the intro and outtro need a little attention ( I'm not big on fade in and out) and at 0:43, the drummer is a hair off. The vocals are very nice. Nice mic for shure (pun intended)

The whole song is around 7:00. I cut it down before and after the vox come in so everyone could get an idea of the entire mix. I figured it would be easier since alot of people are on dial up and don't want to wait around for 30 min to download.

I think it cut off when downloading because other people were trying. the servers here are kinda weird like that. i was probably uploading when you tried too. seems like you tried right after i posted it. So it should be all good now.

just remember there's a couple minutes on each side of the song that aren't there.

Thanks for compliments.

Brandon

I Tried

I tried 10 more times...the most I ever got was :03 seconds.

I've never ever had a problem accessing files that are posted on nowhereradio.com

It's fast...It's free...and it works.

:D

Good luck

pretty cool man. i like the song...reminds me of the band "figures from here" that used to post on this board..great shit.

as far as the recording, the strummed electric guitar was a little "out there" for me...I'd maybe compress it and bring it back just a tad...competing too much with the vocals in my opinion.

but otherwise a good sounding record.

It worked fine for me the first time... I must have been lucky...

I don't seem to like how the drums mix with the guitars (meaning they don't to me), but individually, I like the way they sound. I don't think I'd change anything about the vocals. They were great.

I've tried 4 times and the most I've gotten was a little over 100k. Gotta move on and try again some other time.

I got 1:33 before it went tits up. Sounds very good. I don't know if it's just me but I thought the vocal was just a little bit sibalant. Not bad but I thought I could hear some S's burning. Over all sound is outstanding.

Nice tune and track. I agree, the guitars are too loud for the vocal. The vocal seems a little distant. Also, I think I'm hearing the dreaded Autotune? If that's what that is, you might want to back off on that a bit, so it's not so obvious. I hear the sort of sibilance that is probably the NTK. I thought that was a good thing on that mic, a little air, but maybe not. How's the Blue dragonfly?

Good job,
Macle

Track Rat-i know what you mean. That was the first thing that made me think i needed to look for a better mic. That was the ntk, since then i have purchased a dragonfly and retracked part of the vox and the silibance problem....gone. I guess that mic just works better for me. I just haven't gotten a chance to redo the entire song.

I know what everyone is saying about the drums and guitars. How would i bring them together more. I agree with wes that maybe the guitars could be compress a little bit to sit better, could i put a reverb on all the instruments to mush them together.???

Any suggestions.

Brandon

macle-like i said before. the dragonfly has solved all my vocal problems. I will be using that from now on. However, there is no autotune on the song. I promised myself never to use that ever. I feel like if i have to use it, i shouldn't be singing. I would rather track a part 20 times, then use that thing. What did you hear to make you think i was using it?

Brandon

Hey Brandon, well I thought I heard it for sure in the falsetto part, sounded like it did a little Cher move, but, my mistake! :o Sorry about that.

Macle

The vocal S's sound a bit funky weird, but the singing is excellent. The mix is a little undefined between bass/snare and some of the guits, but it's really a very nice job.

Really nice recording! Good job all around.

Do a review on the Dragonfly for us.

I thought the mix was fine, I like the raw cut feeling. I get tired of perfectly EQ shaped parts. I thought all the sounds blended nicely, kinda felt "there".

his ears are fried from hearing all of the autotune on his own tracks...can't get it out of his head, j/k buddy! heh

I don't use it!! Maybe used it once...but didn't inhale, I swear. Anyway, since Max and myself have admitted our sin, we have seen the light, and will be erasing the tainted vocals, and will never sing again.

(Really sorry I brought this up, should really keep my mouth shut.)
