Was wondering if you could explain what you mean by the other instruments "sympatheticly lighting up the drums which is one of the pitfalls" ...it sounds like an interesting observation that might be able to help me in my recording/performances.
What I mean is when you have the bass or guitars play certain notes which are resonant with the drums (the snare in particular) and get it viberating the snares. If the bass and guitars are purely direct and there are no amps in the room then it's not an issue. I was under the impression that you tracked with everyone playing with their amps all in one room as you'd practice or perform.

Oh...I get ya!My Amp(Line6 Flextone3xlr)Has xlr outs on the back with a seprate level control from what comes out of the amp...I feed that signal into the PA and use whats coming out of my amp almost as a monitor as I get a huge sound thru the PA from the direct feed..if that makes sense..don't know If Im explaining it right  Bassist amp also has the same kinda set up so he is not mic'ed either.
It seems to work very well as we usually have no issues with feedback ot bleed on the tracks...except for the lead vocal track, but I dont think that could be helped for a live recording.

I liked it! The guitars sounded great. the drums were kind of thin and the singing seemed a little stiff.

Yeah man...For a live recording it's pretty damn good. The vocals are the weakest link, but you know that. Listening beyond that, it sounds very good.

Prizmaxic- Thanks for listening...yeah...the drums are really difficult for me to get a real good sound...My drummer is a very loud/powerful drummer and I dont think I'm capturing his sound very well on this recording..I know he is dissapointed with the kick sound.

RAMI-Thanks for the feedback....I think we are going to call this band "3 non singers" as we are all rookies at it!We are having a blast jamming tho so thats whats important and hopefully that will translate into improvments as we keep at it!Thanks man!
