okay...it's time to expand (it takes way too long to back up data on a regular basis)...I think I'd be pretty happy with 20 to 30 gig. Can anyone walk me through in fool's terms, where to go and what to do?

Thanks.

You'll have to sneek back to the 788 forum and look around, but there are recomended 60 gig drives that, when combined with the v 2.0 upgrade we might actually have something.

The other big thing about this and the reason I'm considering a hard drive upgrade is that they are a whole lot quieter than the one the 788 came with. And access time is much faster. Still there will have to be some noise from any hard drive as it accesses information.

Quiter sounds much better....what a nice added bonus. I guess I'll go put on my sheep-suit and sneekily pop around "over there."

BPF,

Did you ever find the answers to this? I'm curious because maybe you can walk me through it in "fools terms" as well. I'd love to expand my hard drive but I'm afraid of killing my 788. I'm not to good with tech stuff.

Thanks.

I haven't looked into it again...just lazy I guess...plus I've been a little sick and been on Valium, Vicodin and beer a little too long.

When this v2.0 comes out it'll handle up to 64 gig drives, and with nice new queiter drives detting down towards $100 it might change the way I do things. I didn't buy the tascam burner cause it's overpriced and I don't have the patience to go through the back up process. But since I get 18 or 20 songs per partition the way I record things and that's about 275 songs at 60 gigs, I can have my back up right there. Just pull it out and put in a new hard drive. Cost per song = 30 cents or so. Hmmm....

Help

I have the 788 and i'm looking for a way to store more songs. I was going to do this with the 788 burner which is fairly costly.I Purchased a P.C with a 120 gig hard drive. Is there any way that I can use it to accomplish this. Is there any other options out there
