:D You guys are too much.

I think Studio Projects make great budget / entry-level mics. But there's just no comparison to something like a Soundelux. Forget it. Ain't happenin.'

And I haven't seen the company's owner around here spamming in quite some time, so I'm happy as a clamb. We've got a lot more fair, unbiased opinions being traded these days. And aside from a few minor outbursts from the "DJL is the devil incarnate" camp, I'd say things have been relatively quiet around here this past year. We even have Mr. Gerst hangin' out a lot more.

This is a good forum again.
You represent God to so many, whats that like?Is it OK to pray
to you directly,or should I go thru DJL?

I suppose if you really want to pray through the son of God, you could start with Jarred Hyatt. :D

I've worked with a guy that uses ifet7 and U99. The U195 I know only by reputation. As much as I think Studio Projects mics are quite useful, I agree with the people that say Soundelux is a whole different ball game. Well, duh! A U99 is $2500 and is a wicked tube mic. ifet7 is extremely versatile and is $1850. From what I know of these mics, they are reasonably priced for what they are- badass mics. And I wouldn't say a C-3 is an entry level Daewoo- that would be a Nady. A C-3 is more of a Mitsubishi Eclipse. A U99 is a Lincoln Continental with the leather interior.
I think it's actually interesting compating cars to mics-
SM57- Ford F140 work truck
Neumann U87-Corvette
Sennheiser MD441-Hummer

I've tried a few of their mics, and I own an Elux 251 (will prolly eventually add a U99 and perhaps an E47 or E49). I think that Soundelux and Brauner are, without a doubt, the two best mic manufacturers in existance today.

Where in the hell do you get all your money? :D Anytime you post it's almost always to talk about some really high end stuff.

why do you guys turn almost every mic thread into a fricking SP thread?? I thought we were talking about Soundelix mics here ...
LOL

I sell a couple records here and there, and whenever I do buy gear, I only buy something that I think is the best in its class - that way I'm not constantly upgrading. :)

I'm tell'in ya, if spend the loot for a u195 you will never regret it...
I got lucky, a buddy of mine has a friend with more money than I could ever wish for and he sold me the u195 with the spider shockmount for $850.00.I'll be buried with that mic when I die....
Extremely versatile and I have had great success with that mic.One thing I've noticed in my modest home studio is :
1) Talent first....period,the better the artist the tracks just seem to come alive.
2) 2 years ago I owned like 12 mics, now I own 5 mics but they are so much nicer which translates to higher quality fidelity wise and my clients can definately tell a difference.
3)Get everything right while tracking, come mixdown it's soooo much easier....
4) I own a pr. of vintage trident mic pres which are great for drums, guitars, etc. but for vocals, etc. I've got to turn the gains up which adds noise so with a very nice mic and average pres (soundcraft spirit studio) recording some talent you can achieve excellent clean results.p.s I want to buy a couple of nice clean mic pres and upgrade my board someday...but for now it sounds more than ok.
But first and foremost it comes down to talent.I've had bands in my studio where yea I've done my job but it still sounds like shit and I'm not egotistical but the better the talent going in the better the product going out...IMHO.

I still havent used my Soundeluxe and Great River NV together yet. Hell, I still havent used the Great River for anything but bass. Its killing me. Gotta get this studio done.
160 sheets of 12 foot, 54 inch drywall went in thia weekend. What a job.
Soon, baby, soon.
