If $1200 is in your budget then buy the TR8XL's and use the other $600 on a second set of monitor's (grab a set of NS10's on Ebay) and some extra gear. If $600 is in your budget then buy the TR8XL's and be happy.

I love the TR8XL's - I have a set as my primary nearfieds and I could get mixes that translate well with those alone. I bought them because they were recommended by a friend who's mixes translate better than anything I've ever heard. HIGHLY recommended.

I've had the Precision 8's now for 6-8 months. I love them. Best purchase I've made yet.

They are 280 watts compared to 150. They are loud if need be. Probably a good idea to have a fairly large control room or it can get ugly.

If you want pristine, 3 dimensional sound with clarity from 20Khz down to 40HZ then get the Event Precision 8s (acutally above 15K is wasted on me)

If you want less than the above go with the XL8s

The Event Precision 8s are the best sound you can buy at that price point.

i have the Precision 8's and i love them but i get scared when i see the little light blink off and on does this mean i have them too loud is there a certain setting i should have them adjusted to on the back of the Monitors?

I'm currently running the ASP 8s and I love these things. I can mix on them all day without ear fatigue and they run really smoothly and can deliver a nice low flat response durring a mix session or a loud in your face sound for clients.

Yeah that means you are clipping the amplifiers, when the lite blinks it lessens the power to keep from damaging the speakers.

Not bumping the thread for any other reason than to say I bought the Event Studio Precision 8's yesterday and things are sounding great....

They are so big, however, that I'm having to reconfigure the entire room .. :D
