event 20/20bas are shielded... but NOt enough

to my dismay i realised that my 20/20bas arent shielded enough. i had to move them to within a foot on each side of my monitor and this is causing all sortts of problems. mainly the screen buggering up.

Does anyon have a solution for this? is there a homebrew method of creating some extra shielding or do i have to buy some? please explain if you have an answer to either of those.

Hi Kristian...

The Event 20/20bas monitors are magnetically shielded. However you cannot shield a monitor 100%. There is still the possibility of magnetic interference depending on the video monitors refresh rate. If your video monitor's refresh rate is set to as close to 60Hz as possible, the interference will be eliminated. If you have a large video monitor, they typically default to a higher refresh rate which can cause interference when placed close to the monitors.

Look within your OSD program and change the video monitor refresh rate to be closer to 60Hz.

Please note that the 20/20bas should be at least four feet away from each other to yield the best imaging. From your description, they are not. Moving to the distance recommended will probably eliminate the interference.

Probably not the answers that you were looking for but the video monitor plays a role in this as well.

I couldn't bear to even thinking of parting with my 20/20bas, so i enquired some more. First off, there is NO way i will sit infront of a screen at 60Hz, that is evil and death, its like watching Lucipher in a shiesser(sp?) porn with beelzebub. So im going to reaccomadate, and make some way to get these things spread out more.

I did notice that the shielding situation with my 20/20bas, but I too did some rearranging to not have to deal with that. But THAT'S NOT where I had most of my problems...

The annoying thing is that little hum and all that hiss even when NOTHING is plugged in!... I just HATED that I NEVER knew FOR SURE if there was hum or a little too much noise going to or coming from tape as the monitors produced their own!

So, I got rid of them and bought passive monitors and a nice amp, all for the same price as the 20/20bas; and now, NOT one little detection of hum and just a very tiny bit of hiss with the amp wide-open and my ear an inch from the tweeter!

That's just my experience with them... If it wasn't for that hum and a bit too much hiss, I would have kept 'em for sure as I liked them!

Well, i happened to get my pair for $500, so i was pretty happy about that. So i think i would be hard found to get a system for $500 that would match it. I think someone pointed a very good topic out... powered monitors like the 20/20bas have crossovers, which most passive monitors dont. I dont know how much of a difference it really makes, but theoretically i can see what it does. Those little its of noise dont really kill me, of course im not doing this as my profession!
