Has anyone had any experience with these mics? I'm basically looking to get a setup to record a drum kit, and they are at extremely low prices (around $30-40) at the moment, and seem like an alternative to Shure SM57's. I will be micing a kit that comprises of one kickdrum, snare, 12' rack tom, and floor tom, as well as cymbals. It's a hard rock/metal sound with an excellent drummer with a decent kit(I think it'd be hard to make him sound bad), so I was thinking 3 of these, one each for the snare and toms. Any other suggestions for budget mics for kick and overheads? They will only be used for a demo recording into a computer setup using a delta 1010lt, so not expecting pro results, just something that will be useful for our own pre-production of songs before we commit money to recording in a proper studio.

Buy one and tell us, at that price you cannot go wrong.

I spoke with an E/V tech one day and he told me it was their "57".
